SOMATIC-EMOTIONAL RELEASE THERAPY

Utilizing deep tissue bodywork, along with psychotherapy, breath work, and visualization to facilitate the release of repressed trauma is
one of the most effective methods to recovery in the treatment of
a variety of physical and emotional distress.

The body directly translates what we think, believe and feel. We are what we think. Every thought, memory, and experience is stored not only in our minds, but in our bodies. Just as physical injuries result in scars, the memory of emotional traumas become trapped in
what is called cell memory. Repressed emotions and trauma remain stored in the physical body and if not released, result in discomfort, pain, and even disease in the body. Traumas from both emotional and physical injuries are held as memories in the tissues.

Often, the conscious mind forces traumatic memories deep into the
subconscious. The more the memories try to emerge into the conscious mind, the further the conscious represses the trauma. As a result, the traumatic memory becomes deeply embedded in the cell memory. Because it cannot manifest in the conscious mind, it is forced to manifest in the physical as pain and disease. Through somatic emotional therapy , these traumatic memories can be released into consciousness to allow healing to begin. Because this combination of therapeutic methods naturally facilitates emotional release, repressed memories are released gradually into the awareness.

S.E.R.T. is effective for the treatment of grief, abuse issues, serious illness or injury rehabilitation, fear & phobias, post traumatic distress, anger, stress and anxiety disorders. Modalities of bodywork used are deep tissue massage, neuro-muscular therapy, and accupressure. These are combined with Gestalt, NLP psychotherapy, visualization, breathing exercises, and aromatherapy.

Massage therapy is recommended for stress reduction, increased flexibility and mobility, detoxification of the body, and general relaxation. Both regular massage sessions and S.E.R.T. are available.
